Terms of use

What we promise, what we do not, and the terms we work under.

What Facet is

Facet is a private document vault with recognition, search and reminders before things expire. It is meant for your own documents and those of the people you are responsible for.

The service is provided as it stands at the time you use it.

Your account

One account belongs to one person. You are responsible for keeping your password and for what happens under your sign-in.

By registering you confirm that you are at least 16. Documents belonging to minors are the responsibility of the adult who uploaded them.

Your documents remain yours

We acquire no rights over what you upload. You grant only the technical permission to store, process and show these files to you — no more than the service needs to work.

You may take everything back at any time with one export, or destroy it along with the account.

Restrictions on use

  • upload another person's documents without their agreement;
  • store material that is unlawful to possess;
  • attempt to reach other people's data, circumvent limits, or load the service by automated means;
  • resell access to the service.

Breaking these is grounds for closing access.

Availability

We aim to keep the service running, but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. It rests on third-party infrastructure, which can fail too.

Features may change. If something substantial is going away, we will say so in advance.

Liability

We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, and for harm to life, body or health. For ordinary negligence we are liable only where an essential contractual duty is breached, and only up to the typically foreseeable damage.

Facet does not replace the safekeeping of originals. A digital copy held here should not be relied on as the only copy of a document.

Ending it

You can leave whenever you like — the delete button under security settings destroys everything immediately.

We may close access in case of a serious breach of these terms; if so we will tell you and let you take your data, unless the law forbids it.

Changes to these terms

We will announce material changes in the app at least two weeks in advance. If you disagree, you may leave and take your data with you.

Law and disputes

German law applies. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live.
